5 Ways to Handle Multiple Job Offers

5 Ways to Handle Multiple Job OffersTo say that landing a lucrative career is challenging is an understatement. With the competition that’s getting tougher, poor global economic conditions and insane number of jobseekers, you’re fortunate to be getting a job offer after several attempts to find a job. But what if you got so lucky to get more than one job offer?

Well, who doesn’t want to have options? Candidates who find themselves in this situation may feel like the odds are in their favor but it’s more complicated than it seems. It is in fact just as challenging. Not knowing how to handle multiple job offers may do you more harm than good. So what’s the best way to juggle various opportunities presented to you all at once without risking anything? Take a look at these tips!

Politely ask for time to decide
While most companies or employers usually give candidates ample time to consider their offer, it would be best if you politely ask them to give you a bit more time to decide. There is nothing wrong about being honest with the hiring manager who first made the offer. You can tell them how you appreciate the fact they have considered your application and how you’re looking forward to working with the company. Then, ask if it would possible to give you a few more days to firm up your decision. Be sure to be specific about the number of days you’re asking for.

However, you also have to be ready in the instance when they would be needing your answer sooner.

Consider your long term goals
To help you weigh whether a job offer is the one for you or not, take time to consider your long term career goals. Where do you yourself working 5 or 10 years from now? What do you wish to achieve in terms of your career and professional life? Identify your career goals and look for a company that provides you opportunities that will help build the career you’ve always dreamt of. It would also help if you write them down so you can compare companies or employers with each other.

Don’t just rely on the salary
It’s almost always tempting to go for the company that offers the highest salary but it isn’t always the best choice. Some employers may have lucrative salary packages that include a lot of benefits but they have limited career advancement potential. Be sure not to jump right into locking yourself in a contract with an organization just because the pay is irresistible.

Start eliminating
Now that you have identified your career goals, it’s time to narrow down your choices into the few ones that will help you meet your objectives. Eliminate companies from your list if you think they won’t be able to provide the growth and opportunities you need to advance your career.
Communicate your decision

As soon as you have reached a decision, be sure to make the companies aware. Politely tell them if you have already made a choice and let them know you are thankful for the opportunity given.
