Things to Ask Before Accepting a Job Offer

Things to Ask Before Accepting a Job OfferAsk the right questions before changing jobs.

A great job involves a superb working environment, company culture, and innovative staff. If you’re thinking of making a career move, make sure to get to know the company before you make a decision.

Here are some questions you may want to ask to get to know the company better:

1. How does the company deal with camaraderie? Companies should want to create a working environment that allows employees to be more motivated and productive. Beyond the vision and values statements you see on the company’s website, focus on whether the employer takes them seriously.

Find out how the company you’re interested in deals with challenging situations. Are interactions healthy? How does the company deal with conflict? Look for a company that encourages employees to connect and support each other on the job. Does the company have a healthy environment where employees can get creative and take a breather when needed? You may want to talk to a few employees to find out what’s really happening on the inside.

2. What about flexibility and balance? Does the company give their employees a chance to balance their work and personal lives? If needed, look for companies that provide greater flexibility, including work-at-home arrangements or more parental leave.

It may seem wrong to bring up benefits like these during an interview, but if they’re important to your ability to work, it’s perfectly acceptable to ask.

3. How innovative is the company? It’s better to be employed with a company that is innovating and keeping up with trends. The company should be willing to be flexible, and be willing to change as needed on the employee front as well to maintain maximum productivity.

4. Does the company have a diverse workforce? A diverse working environment allows the staff to be more productive and creative. You can ask about any diversity training or sponsorship when you have a job offer in hand. It can be a great advantage to be surrounded by a diverse team of professionals.
