They’re On Your Side

Theyre On Your SideWe talk a lot about out-smarting interviewers and beating them at their own game -- but it's also worth remembering something important:

Most hiring managers do NOT like interviewing candidates.

Many of them completely hate the hiring process altogether.

Why?

Because it takes them away from their *real* work, and forces them to spend days, sometimes even weeks, interviewing different people.

Each time a new person walks through the door and takes a seat, they're desperately hoping that he or she will be the one.

(If they are, they can get back to doing real work again.)

So next time you're called into an interview, and you're just about to sink into the hot seat -- and feel like it's swallowing you up -- just remember one thing:

That person in front of you across the desk is on your side.

It might not feel like it, but, secretly, they're rooting for you.

They're hoping that you're going to hit a home run for all of their questions, so that when you walk out the room they can high-five the HR rep.

"We've found our star. Kathleen is EXACTLY who we're looking for."

The interviewer is on your side.

Never forget that.

But also remember, just because they're on your side, it doesn't mean they have the power to hire you without question.

They need to see you perform.

They need to see you answer each of their interview questions is a very specific way -- one that leaves them with no doubt that you're "the one".
